# How Do Parking Permits Work?

ParkingPass uses **digital parking e-permits** to authorize vehicles at your community. These permits are tied directly to your vehicle information—no physical permit is required.

---

### **How E-Permits Identify Your Vehicle**

Approved vehicles are authorized using:

- Your **license plate number**
- The **last six characters of your vehicle’s VIN**

Your property's patrol teams use **License Plate Reader (LPR) technology** to identify authorized vehicles during routine patrols.

---

### **When Is My Vehicle Authorized?**

Once your vehicle is:

1. Approved by your property management team, and
2. Assigned an active **parking e-permit**

👉 Your vehicle is **authorized immediately** for parking.

There is no delay and no additional action required on your end.

---

### **Do I Need a Physical Parking Permit?**

No. ParkingPass operates entirely through **license plate recognition**.

As long as:

- Your vehicle is registered correctly, and
- Your e-permit is active

Your license plate serves as your parking authorization.

---

### **Important Notes**

- If your vehicle information changes (license plate, VIN, or vehicle), be sure to update it in your account so patrol teams can continue to identify your vehicle correctly.
- Refunds are not offered for unused days or permits that are ended early.

If you have any questions about permits, parking rules, or enforcement, contact your property management team.
